VSA presents
5.3.2009, ab 20 Uhr in der Vorstadt Herbststrasse 37, 1160 Wien
Chris and The Other Girls (A) [myspace]
Chris And The Other Girls is the name Fabian proposed, when i told him that i wanted to start a solo project, as I used to call my friends "Ladies" sometimes back in the days. He's not just a good friend of mine, but also the bass player in the punk rock band Dressy Vagabonds i used to be a part ofthis.
When I moved to Vienna in 2002 I had to leave my band behind (because of the huge distance between Bolzano and Vienna) and I just felt like finally having an opportunity to sing and record all of the slow songs I had written over the years of being the lead singer in Dressy Vagabonds.
As I didn't know basically anybody in Vienna at that time, I kinda started playing some solo shows and recording my first acoustic demo songs. As I got to know musicians I asked people to play live shows along with me. As i never wanted Chris And The Other Girls to become a band with fix members, most of the first shows were kinda different and still they are.
Most of the time it's band shows with drums, bass, guitars and stuff, but sometimes it's still special gigs with just vocals and a guitar or piano and upright bass. I let that depend on the club and mood I am in.
To be in a solo project is extremely important to me as this is probably the only way to keep myself happy and excited for a long period of time. I could imagine being a guitar player in a band or have any other kind of band structure, but not with these very personal songs that are just all about my life. I just don't wanna have any discussions
Support: Ian Fisher (USA/A) [myspace] [ianfishermusic.com]
Ian Fisher is an American singer/songwriter who has infiltrated the Viennese indie-scene with his well-crafted songs and dynamic voice. His uniquely sincere and passionate performances always leave his audience wanting more.
Er lebt derzeit in Wien.
When I was 13-years-old, I began playing bass guitar and started a band with some friends. I got frustrated with the guitarist, who I thought didn't practice enough, so I bought a guitar and taught myself how to play. Then, since no-one else wanted to sing, I decided that I would to do that too. After three years, dozens of members, and multiple names, the band split up. I then started playing solo shows and randomly with other musicians. I've continued that pattern to this day. Now-a-days I am living in Vienna, Austria, and playing and creating the music that I love. In the fall of 2007 I released the album "Invasions" and in the fall of 2008 I released "Pawn Heart". Both of these albums are available on Itunes, Amazon, and a few other websites or you can get them at my concerts. This spring I will release a new album entitled "Stained Glass".
